Isles Acquire Defenseman Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk

It appeared that this rainy Saturday would be nothing but a dreary day on Long Island with every resident hoping for a few rays of sunshine to brighten up the day. Well, the sun may not have appeared from behind the clouds, but things are certainly shining bright after the New York Islanders made some bold trades that have drastically improved their roster.

The New York Islanders have acquired defenseman Johnny Boychuk from the Boston Bruins and Nick Leddy from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Blackhawks need to clean up their game as series shifts to Chicago

The Blackhawks open their home games at the United Center already in a 0-2 hole.

The worst part about that? They could be headed home up 2-0. The Blackhawks gave up the tying goal in both games in the dying moments of the third period: with less than two minutes on the clock in Game 1, and just a handful of seconds left in Game 2. In both games, the Blues made the best of overtime, came away with the wins.

Corey Crawford's play in Game 1 was outstanding, but he took the blame for Game 2, stating, "It’s pretty much not acceptable. We’re not going to win if I’m going to play like that. I just have to be better" - an opinion echoed by his...

Hawks grind out the Blues with 4-2 win

Sunday is usually a day for rest and relaxation. On this Sunday afternoon the Blackhawks continued their hard worker bee mentality and were able to grind down the St. Louis Blues. Fortitude is what Morin has displayed all year whether i...

The Chicago Blackhawks prepare for a high-paced season

The CBA has been hammered out, the MOUs have been signed, and teams across the NHL welcome fans back into their buildings starting on Sunday as training camps open for the league.

It's long overdue for a lockout that should not have happened to begin with. While the fans eagerly flock back - as the league knew they would - they should not be taken for granted.

In Chicago, a number of Blackhawks supplemented by players like Mike Brown (TOR), Al Montoya (WPG), Ben Eager (EDM), and Troy Brouwer (WSH) have been skating at least three times a week since the lockout began. Kenny McCudden, skating and skills coach for the Chicago Wolves (AHL), has worked with the players at least...
