Game Preview: Showdown in Anaheim

Preview: There could be a lot on the line for tonight’s Southern California battle. The Kings (22-13-3; 47 points) make the short trip to Anaheim to take on the Ducks (25-8-5; 55 points) tonight at 6. Tonight’s contest marks the final ten games in the season for both teams. Los Angeles currently sits in second place in the Pacific Division trailing the Ducks by eight points. The Kings final game against Anaheim will be next Saturday at the Staples Center.

Since the winner of each division is reserved a top three seed for the playoffs winning the Pacific Division provides plenty of advantages. A chance to pick up two points on the Ducks and set the ton...

Detroit Sweeps The Weekend Vs Anaheim

Detroit Red Wings sweeps the weekend, beating Anaheim both Friday and today. Detroit played a successful weekend on the road, which felt much like a home game. It was refreshing to hear "Let's go Red Wings" all the way in Cali. With the support from the fans as well as some solid goaltending, Detroit is happy to hand Anaheim two regulation losses.

The Chicago Blackhawks face the Anaheim Ducks tonight in the last game of a four game road trip. This is the first matchup this season of the best two teams in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks are coming off of a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche, the team who ended the record-setting points streak. The Ducks are coming off of a 5-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

The Blackhawks aren’t the only team that has gone on a points streak this season. The Ducks have earned points in 11 straight games, the longest active point streak in the National Hockey League.

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews continu...

Game Preview: Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

The Flames will look to continue one streak while trying to end another tonight when they head into Anaheim to face the Ducks. The Flames have not won in Anaheim in fifteen straight visits but are playing their best hockey of the season and will look to extend their winning streak to a season-high three games. The Ducks are one of the surprises so far in this shortened season, sitting in 2nd place in the West, and at the top of the Pacific Division.

Kings Continue Season Slide, Fall to Ducks 7-4

Stanley Cup hangovers have proved to be problems of varying degrees for teams coming off of a championship. Blame the perpetual photo shoot sessions and unending praise from complete strangers and an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment for a sluggish start to a new year. It’s easy to do those things. But when looking at this 48-game schedule, it’s also easy to point towards the especially extended offseason, coupled with the fact that the Kings’ roster is basically identical to the one which won the Stanley Cup last June and wonder why the team isn’t winni...

Should the Red Wings Have Traded for Jeff Carter?

When news broke that Pavel Datsyuk was out for 2-3 weeks from a minor knee surgery, everyone in Hockeytown panicked. After a few minutes, a few tweets, and a few deep breaths later, we were assured that Pav was going to be okay and in fact it was just a minor surgery. It was taken as a precaution so the Wings’ best player would be 100% come playoff time.

I’m not one to generally panic, since the Red Wings have been in stretches without their best players before. However, the Winged Wheel has had a great season going so far, and we are entering into a portion of the season where points are at a premium. We all saw what happened last year in Game 7 of the Western Conferenc...

One, Two, Three, Triple Deke - Ducks 4 Isles 2

The Ducks top line of Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Bobby Ryan had a coming out party Friday Night.

Unfortunately, it was at the New York Islanders expense.

Bobby Ryan had two goals and Ryan Getzlaf scored the go-ahead goal, his first in over a month, as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Islanders 4-2.

Ryan started the scoring at 14:18 of the second period only seconds after their first power play of the game ended. Matt Martin answered back under two minutes later tapping home a rebound to tie the game at one. It was his fifth goal of the season, tying his career high.

Game Day: Phoenix Coyotes @ Anaheim Ducks

After having enjoyed more overall success in earlier weeks, the Phoenix Coyotes are struggling to find consistency and have split their last ten games, which includes a monster stretch of four games in six nights. They face Anaheim for already the third time this season, having had the upper hand in both meetings so far with wins of 5-4 and 4-2, exactly one month apart.

The Ducks, like the Coyotes, have dropped their last two games.  Their division is in the midst of an overhaul, with only Phoenix's Dave Tippett and San Jose's Todd McLellan having coached full seasons with their respective clubs last year. Bruce Boudreau has a .666 winning-percentage all time and i...

Flyers Start West Coast Trip In Anaheim

The Philadelphia Flyers head out on a West coast trip this weekend. Their first stop is in Anaheim to face the flightless Ducks at 10:00 pm EST. It will be the debut of coach Bruce Boudreau with his new team and the question is, just how much will the coaching change effect this game tonight ?

Game Day: Anaheim Ducks @ Phoenix Coyotes

The contract saga between Kyle Turris and the Phoenix Coyotes concluded yesterday in a two-year, $2.8M deal that will see Turris earn $1.2M this season and $1.6M the next.  Both sides spoke amicably of one another to the point where it's unclear if at some point later on this season, after enough on-ice exposure, Don Maloney will eventually grant Turris' wish of a trade. According to TSN, there are at least three teams currently interested (Ottawa, Calgary, Toronto).

Nevertheless, there is a game tonight.  The Anaheim Ducks roll into town after having won just one game out of their last ten, and the Coyotes dropped their last game against Washington.  Bot...
