The New York Islanders return home to the Nassau Coliseum for a 7p.m. puck drop Saturday to take on their longtime rival the New Jersey Devils. This will be the fourth of five meetings between the two this year. The Devils a have won two of the three previous matchups, including the most recent, a 6-1 triumph on Coliseum ice back on March 1st. (Photo credit: paul.hadsall/flickr).
As another Islander season draws closer to an ending, it’s never too early to start thinking about the future (it’s what we do best on Long Island). Free agency will come and go and big-ticket names will be shuffled around in trades. And the one name hanging out there that appears ripe for the taking, Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban, just so happens to make a heck of a lot of sense for the team in Nassau.
Plagued by injuries, and shorthanded by recent trades, the Isles will field a lineup consisting of many who started the season in Connecticut. This is even truer in light of Michael Grabner’s concussion. There is no time table for Grabner’s return, and in truth, it’s not likely he will play again this season. Therefore on Thursday, the Islanders recalled Johan Sundstrom from Bridgeport.

Ryan Strome and Anders Lee have been nothing short of excellent since their recent call-up back to the New York Islanders.
On a day highlighted by trade talk, the Islanders escaped on the ice and prevailed in overtime after blowing another 3rd period lead. The Vanek trade is still the number 1 story in Islanders nation, but this was a great way to have some fun while Garth and company look to get a deal done.
The New York Islanders played host to the Florida Panthers this afternoon, looking to redeem themselves after a very embarrassing 6-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils yesterday afternoon. To the Isles' dismay, that would not be the case as they squandered a two-goal lead in the third period to lose to the Panthers by a score of 5-3.
