This is it: Hawks and Kings go to Game 7

It’s all come down to a one-game, winner-takes-all epic showdown at the Madhouse on Sunday night, and the hype couldn’t be higher for the Blackahwks/Kings showdown for Game 7.  The Hawks took a nerve-wracking Game 6 with a score of 4-3, sending the series back to the United Center, where the winner of Game 7 will move on to the Stanley cup final for the second time in the last three years to face the New York Rangers.  This will be the King’s third Game 7 of the playoffs, after taking both the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks to seven games in their previous two playoff series.

Hawks look to tie series in Game 4

The home team has come away with the victory in every game of the Hawks/Blues playoff series so far, and Chicago will look to keep that trend going as they host St. Louis Wednesday night.

The Hawks eeked out a 2-0 victory over the Blues on Monday, but it was closer than it sounded.  After a soft goal let in by Ryan Miller by Jonathan Toews, Miller settled down and shut the door for the rest of the night. The Blues regained their composure and p...

Blackhawks extend losing streak to 3 after loss to Penguins

Both the Blackhawks and Penguins talked about needing to win Sunday night's match prior to the game; both teams had lost their last two games.

Pittsburgh just sold what they were saying better in the first period, going up 2-0 halfway through the period with goals just 21 seconds apart by James Neal and Lee Stempniak.

Sheldon Brookbank got the Blackhawks on the board 11:10 into the second period.

But any elation that Chicago might have felt over finally scoring was punched in the gut a few minutes later when Brooks Orpik checked Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews hard into the boards. Though the hit was called legal on the ice, Toews hit the boards hard...

Hawks shutout against division rivals Preds; fall in Central division standings

The Hawks have had trouble with the Nashville Predators all season, and after a reassuring win against the Hurricanes on Friday, went back to square one in a shutout loss agains their division rivals.  Pekka Rinne would make 29 saves in a lackluster effort by Chicago, who’s inconsistent play is becoming more concerning as the playoffs approach.  The loss dropped Chicago six points behind the division-leading Blues, who earned two more points today in a win against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

13 Hawks earn points in dominant victory over Flyers

Philadelphia came to Chicago tonight looking for a game against one of the league’s top teams to use as a measuring stick for their own success.  After an embarrassing 7-2 thumping by the Hawks, they may want to reconsider that statement.  13 Blackhawk players would finish the game with at least a point, and Antti Raanta finished with a .933 SV%, proving yet again that he is a very capable goaltender.  Ray Emery, who started against his former team, would allow six goals on 18 shots.

The game got off to a rough start right away, when Sheldon Brookbank and Wayne Simmonds dropped the glove a...

Hawks' rally falls short as Lehtonen steals show

The Chicago Blackhawks pepperd Kari Lehtonen with 50 shots on goal, and rallied in the second period from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, but it wasn't enough as the Stars took home a 4-3 victory in Chicago's first home game back from the Circus Trip. Lehtonen was outstanding, stopping 47 shots on goal in his 400th NHL game.

The first 10 minutes of the first period were fairly back and forth, with good chances by both the Hawks and the Stars.  Dallas took c...

Hawks ground Jets in 4-1 home win

The Hawks were firing on all cylinders as the Winnipeg Jets rolled into town on Wednesday night.  Three days after their defeat in Calgary, the Hawks came back to Chicago and dispatched the Jets 4-1.  Corey Crawford was solid in net with 23 stops as the Hawks reached double digits in the win column with their 10th of the season.

This was also the ‘official’ Chicago homecoming of former Hawk forward Michael Frolik, who received a warm welcome from ...

Blackhawks Fall to Visiting Oilers 6-5 for their Second Regulation Loss of the Season

The Chicago Blackhawks (21-2-3) suffered their second consecutive regulation loss Sunday night in a 6-5 barnburner against the visiting Edmonton Oilers (9-11-5), trading in their 24 game points streak for a 2 game pointless streak. After looking sluggish for most of their 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche just two days prior, the Blackhawks continued to appear as though they were skating through quicksand, surrendering four first period goals to a young Edmonton squad that had lost five straight games entering the night’s contest. The Oilers, having been shutout in their previous two outings, scored their first goal in nearly 168 minutes just 2:24 into the opening frame on S...

Chicago Blackhawks First Quarter Report Card

The past two seasons were a struggle for the Blackhawks. Although they qualified for the playoffs both years, neither route was ideal.

In 2011, gutted post-Cup victory, they backed into the playoffs based on the Wild's win over the Stars in game 82. The battle leading up to the playoffs left the team battered and tired - yet they still pushed the Canucks to Game 7 OT in the first round.

In 2012, they had a bit more of a cushion, but 101 points in the ultra-competitive West was only good enough for 6th place. Although the Blackhawks pushed the Coyotes to five OT games, and then lost to Phoenix 0-4 in Game 6 on home ice.
