Garth Snow must take responsibility for the teams poor performance this season. JT getting hurt did not ruin the year, the roster that he assembled proved to be a unit that could not win enough to be competitive, so before he proclaims others must pay back season ticket holders, he should look at himself in the mirror.

Stamkos replaced by St. Louis

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Martin St. Louis has been selected to replace injured teammate Steven Stamkos on Canada's roster for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. St. Louis will cap off an impressive year by playing in his second Olympics, having played for Canada in 2006 in Turin, heading to Russia preparing to play his first international tournament since the 2009 IIHF World Championship.

Following the news from Tampa Bay that Stamkos has not been medically cleared to resume playing following his broken leg, the 23-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Olympic squad with his Lightning team-mate, St. Louis, replacing him on the Canadian roster.

Sochi-Bound Red Wings

There are almost two years until the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia however the gears of preparation are well into use. Canada has tapped Red Wing legend Steve Yzerman to return as executive director for Canada. Wings GM Ken Holland will be a key member of Yzerman's support staff, however it's doubtful Yzerman and Holland will be the only two people with Red Wing ties at Sochi.

Of course rosters change and the Red Wings are in for a moderate overhaul over the next two seasons but there are some shoe-ins to be Olympians, some players who would be on the bubble if selections were today and some youngsters that may push for a bid as they develop.

Yzerman Considering Olympic Encore

In a recent tweet, Bob McKenzie stated that Steve Yzerman is very much interested in Team Canada's general manager position at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

"Going to Russia trying to win gold in light of VAN result would be exciting challenge. There is no problem with me being GM now," said Yzerman, "I'd have to give (running Canadian Olympic team) some thought, 2010 was one of the greatest experiences of my career."

McKenzie also said that, "Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson will talk to Yzerman in January. HC is preparing as though NHLers will be in Sochi. [There is] no Plan B right now."
