Game Preview: Flames vs St. Louis Blues

The Flames will face a familiar foe tonight when they head into St. Louis to face Jay Bouwmeester and the Blues. It will be the first time the Flames will face-off against Bouwmeester since the Flames traded him to the Blues on April 1st, in exchange for Mark Cundari, goaltender Reto Berra and now their 1st round pick in this June’s draft.

Blackhawks slam the door on the Blues in 2-0 Shutout

As the Blackhawks faced another division opponent and another team desperate for points to make the playoffs, it was the Hawks that remained standing at the bell. Coming into the game it was the St. Louis netminder Brian Elliott who was coming into the game with a shutout streak but the Hawks not only answered they pitched a shutout for themselves.

Corey Crawford gets the shutout but the entire team played solid defense in front of him.  It’s not that the Hawks didn’t make mistakes it’s that they covered for each other when they got in trouble and continue to improve their team game that is impressive.

From the very first drop of the p...

Game Preview: Kings vs. Blues

The Kings (3-5-1; 8 points) have a quick turn around after a devastating 3-2 loss in Detroit when they head to St. Louis to take on the Blues (6-4-1; 13 points) tonight at 5. The Kings have dropped their past two games and are 1-3 entering the final leg of their road trip. After a red hot start the Blues are on a four game skid earning only one point. Detroit Gets Even With Blues

The Detroit Red Wings avenged a 6-0 opening night loss to the St. Louis Blues by beating their Central Division rivals 5-3 at the Joe Louis Arena.

Henrik Zetterberg had a hat trick and two assists, Jonathan Ericsson had a goal and two assists, and Pavel Datsyuk scored the game winner for Detroit.

Blackhawks wrap up the Opening Night hat trick with home opener win to go 3-0-0

The Chicago Blackhawks completed the Opening Night hat trick, securing their their win in a row in the third home opener they participated in -- this time, on home ice at the United Center in Chicago.

Before an opening night crowd of 21,455 - the largest opening night crowd in the NHL this season - the Blackhawks had a 3-0 lead and it looked like they might get their first shut out in nearly two years. However, St. Louis managed a late rally, scoring twice in the third period, to keep the game close.

Patrick Kane started the scoring at 7:20 into the first period. It was another 21 minutes before anyone would tally again; this time it was a Duncan Keith shot that d...

Blackhawks look to rock the Madhouse tonight in home opener

In just a few hours, the "feathered faithful" will fill the United Center to capacity, and the rafters will hopefully thunder to the chorus of "Chelsea Dagger", the Blackhawks' signature goal song.

There is no banner to raise to their own rafters this year, but the Blackhawks want to have a good home opener after ruining LA and Phoenix's.

Chicago will be kicking off their home games against one of their fiercest rivals, the St. Louis Blues. The Blues will be rolling into town on the back end of a road back-to-back after dispatching the Nashville Predators in a shootout on Monday night, 4-3. Prior to visiting Nashville, the Blue...

Where Are They Now? Dave Scatchard

It was on Twitter where former Islanders fan favorite Dave Scatchard retired from the game of hockey after talking to doctors that determined it wouldn’t be safe for him to continue playing hockey because of concussions. Today, Scatchard tweets about his wife, three children, and still keeps in contact with former teammates and brothers from the NHL. According to his bio, he is an entrepreneur. Islanders fans should remember Scatchard for his hard-nosed play on the ice as he never thought twice about throwing the body or dropping the mitts. Scatchard did whatever it took for the team to win, while skating around in his always-recognizable number 38 jersey.
