Leafs trade on the horizon?

Josh Rimer, from NHL Home Ice on SiriusXM Radio, tweeted this yesterday: “From what I'm told Gardiner might have a real short stay in minors as Leafs could be making a trade in next 24-48 hrs.”

I don’t normally place much stock in sources outside of Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger, because any jackass can fabricate rumours if there’s a logical basis, but Rimer, as far as the “Twitterverse” is concerned, is a legitimate source. Rimer later emphasized that a trade “could” happen, and nothing is set in stone.

We know general manager Brian Burke is working the phones right now. It’s mid-January---when he typical...

Detroit Visits Sid-Less Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby will not play Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings due to a recurrence of concussion-like symptoms.

Crosby, who missed nearly ten months because of a concussion, returned a few weeks ago and was playing excellent hockey, until a couple of collisions made the Penguins take him out of the line-up as a precaution for two games, but now that has changed to an indefinite time frame.

Jordan Staal might also sit for the Pens as well.

Detroit will have Jimmy Howard in net tomorrow at the Consol Energy Center. Detroit has lost its past two games against the Penguins, with the last win coming two years ago in Hockeytown, a 3-1 win which saw ...

The Montreal Canadiens welcome the Rangers after visiting the other New York team on Thursday.  Coming off a less than stellar effort on the Island, the team will be encoura...

Post Game Carolina Hurricanes Into A Game Day New York Islanders

Call The Hurricanes In When You Need An Easy Win

Carolina Hurricanes 0 - Montreal Canadiens 4

Throughout the season each team circles certain games on the schedule as rivalry tilts or games that have special meaning.  On the other hand there are the games that have no extra motivation other than the points.  Well the game last night was just that.

Over the past few years, playing the Carolina Hurricanes has become that.  I would rank a game against the Hurricanes in Montreal the hardest ticket to sell.  And then add the fact that the Habs have to fly out to Long Island to play the back end of two games in two nights, a lackluster performance would have...
