Flyers Silence Kings After Rough Game In Anaheim

The Flyers have just two wins in their last seven games. Both of those wins are shutouts.

The Flyers blanked the Kings, 2-0, just days after getting scorched for five goals against the Ducks. Earlier in the week, they snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-0 drubbing of the Red Wings.

The game looked to be a low-scoring affair early as the teams tallied just 12 shots in a scoreless first.

Wayne Simmonds scored his 100th career goal in the win. It was also his first trip back at the Staples Center since 2011 when he was traded to Philadelphia, making the goal even more special.

Flyers Blank Red Wings

Good breaks favor the victors. The Philadelphia Flyers capitalized twice in the second period leading to a 5-0 shutout win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Scott Hartnell added two goals while dealing with a sore foot to lead the way. Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier and Adam Hall also scored for the Flyers.

Flyers Embarrassed At Home By Bruins

Steve Mason's new goalie mask is a perfect representation of the Flyers.

His new mask has images of some of his teammates in zombie form. And much like his mask depicts, the Flyers resemble the walking dead.

The Flyers turned in another mediocre performance, losing 6-1 in embarrassing fashion to the Bruins at home. The loss expanded the Flyers losing streak to four games as well as losses in seven of their last nine games.

Flyers Lack Effort In Loss to Jackets

If in Wednesday's loss to Carolina the Flyers showed times of no effort, it was in Thursday's loss that they showed 60 minutes of no effort.

The Flyers lost 5-2 to Columbus in a game they never got out of the starting gate. Ray Emery allowed five goals and played the entire game to keep Steve Mason rested.

Tlusty's Third Period Goal Sends Hurricanes Past Flyers

Another slow start for the Flyers bit them in an unwelcoming place Wednesday night.

A shot from the point landed on the stick of Jiri Tlusty, and he put it past Steve Mason to give the Hurricanes the 3-2 lead and eventual win over the Flyers on Wednesday. It was the third time in as many games the Flyers dropped to the Hurricanes.

The game was a makeup from Tuesday, which was postponed due to the foot of snow Philadelphia got.

Pregame 1/20: Islanders vs Flyers

The Islanders return home to the Nassau Coliseum after a 6 game road trip saw them go 4-2. Today in a 1PM start they take on the Philadelphia Flyers in the back end of a home and home series

Flyers Complete Another Comeback, Defeat Islanders

As they had done eight times prior this season, the Flyers had erased a third period deficit to defeat the New York Islanders 6-4 on Saturday night in a wild affair. This ninth comeback set a new team record.

Incredibly enough, 11 of the last 15 Flyers wins have involved coming back from a deficit.

Report: Flyers Extend Goalie Steve Mason

The Flyers have extended starting goaltender Steve Mason, according to a report by ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

LeBrun, an insider, tweeted "Hearing that goalie Steve Mason has signed an extension with the Flyers. No other details at this point."

Flyers Fall Short In Comeback Attempt

I tying goal in the final minutes looked eerily familiar to Tuesday's game.

But failure to get the second point in the shootout ended the Flyers bid at a second straight comeback win as they lost 4-3 to the Predators on Thursday. They walked away with the loser point, which dropped their record to 24-19-5 and keeping them in a tie for second place with the Rangers.

Getting that first point, though, showed the fighting nature this Flyers team has had in recent games. Third period comebacks have become a dangerous aspect of the Flyers recent play.

Flyers Stifle Canadiens for 10th Straight Win in Philadelphia

The Flyers have come far since their franchise-worst start.

The Flyers have now won ten games in a row on home ice, dominating the Montreal Canadiens in a 3-1 win on Wednesday night. Their last loss? A 3-0 loss to New Jersey on November 7.

Two first period goals, as well as three assists from Slovakian Olympian Andrej Meszaros led the way for the Flyers, who continue to cement a spot among the Metropolitan Division's top teams.
