Defenceman Eric Brewer has agreed to a four-year deal with the club that will pay him just under $16 million. The 32-year-old, who recorded nine goals and seven assists in 76 games last season with the St. Louis Blues and the Lightning, was set to become a free agent on July 1. Thompson will receive $950,000 in the first year of the deal and $850,000 in the second year. The Anchorage, Alaska native was claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders last season. This year, he has 7 goals and 10 assists in 51 games. Thompson was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2003 but only appeared in four games with the club in the 2006-07 season.
