Wings Help Howard Reach 100th Career Win Against Phoenix

Detroit Red Wings steal their 13th consecutive home game from the Phoenix Coyotes!

First Period: The Wings came out strong at the start of the period. It took 9 minutes of playing before a goal was made. Phoenix was the one to steal the first goal, which was scored by Vrbata. After Vrbata’s goal, the Wings seemed to have a rough second half of the period. The last couple minutes had good pressure from the Wings though. With only 51 seconds left of the first, the Wings finally got a shot past Smith. Filppula made a beautiful goal with an assist from White. The period ended at a 1 to 1 tie. SOG: 13 Detroit vs 9 Phoenix.

Second Period: The...

Game Day: Anaheim Ducks @ Phoenix Coyotes

The contract saga between Kyle Turris and the Phoenix Coyotes concluded yesterday in a two-year, $2.8M deal that will see Turris earn $1.2M this season and $1.6M the next.  Both sides spoke amicably of one another to the point where it's unclear if at some point later on this season, after enough on-ice exposure, Don Maloney will eventually grant Turris' wish of a trade. According to TSN, there are at least three teams currently interested (Ottawa, Calgary, Toronto).

Nevertheless, there is a game tonight.  The Anaheim Ducks roll into town after having won just one game out of their last ten, and the Coyotes dropped their last game against Washington.  Bot...

Game Day: Phoenix Coyotes @ Buffalo Sabres

Still licking their wounds after surrendering yet another game-winning goal within the dying seconds of the third period, this time against the Flyers on Thursday, the Phoenix Coyotes roll into Buffalo this evening to take on the Sabres at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The 2-1 loss was their first of this roadtrip that sees them head over to Washington after the end of this game, eventually returning home to face Anaheim on Wednesday.

Buffalo is counting on Jhonas Enroth to step up in Ryan Miller's absence, as the former is expected to make his fourth start in a row tonight for the 12-7-0 Sabres.  Phoenix last beat the Sabres in early 2008, and have lost five games in a ro...

Game Day: Los Angeles Kings @ Phoenix Coyotes

In the first of two meetings between the Kings and the Coyotes in October, one team is looking to build a three-game winning streak while the other is looking to rebound from a paltry showing that saw them outshot 35-16 against the Chicago Blackhawks and outscored 5-2.  In the "probably bad news" category, however, the last time the Coyotes managed this little offense was against Los Angeles.

The Kings have three consecutive wins against the Coyotes and are looking to come out of tonight's game in similar fashion, while Phoenix is trying to move past Tuesday's performance with the knowledge that a big win is needed tonight.
