Canucks Claim Tom Sestito Off Waivers

The Vancouver Canucks have claimed Flyers forward Tom Sestito off of waivers this morning.

The Canucks lost tough guy Aaron Volpatti when the Washington Capitals claimed him off waivers yesterday and didn't call anyone else up. They claimed Sestito to fill his role.

Tom Sestito Sent to Phantoms For the Night

The Adirondack are back in Philadelphia for one night.

Playing against the Wilkes-Barre Penguins tonight at the Wells Fargo Center, the Phantoms are expecting to play in front of a sold out crowd nearing 20,000 tonight. They will wear their throwback Phantoms jerseys as well for the occasion.

They are also bringing back Tom Sestito for the night. The move is more of a service for Sestito, who hasn't dressed the last six games for the Flyers.

On a Team Looking for Consistent Energy, Zac Rinaldo Is Supplying It

It has been very apparent that the Flyers have struggled to get a consistent effort from any of their forwards this season.

Top players like Danny Briere and Claude Giroux have struggled, young players like Tye McGinn have been taken in and out of the lineup, and enforcers like Tom Sestito have made lineup changes even more interesting. It’s tough to think of a player that has provided a consistent effort while performing his specific role.

When you get down to it, Zac Rinaldo may very well be your guy.

For One Night, Tom Sestito Sheds His Goon Role

Maybe there is something Peter Laviolette knew that no one else possibly could.

Two years without any goals? No problem. A reputation of being a goon that can’t do anything else? Players can change.

Brought to Philly in a controversial trade that no one agreed with? You have to work with the players you have.

Laviolette has been scrutinized every time he has worked Tom Sestito in the lineup. He is a player that Flyers fans usually love to hate. His reputation is terrible, and he has never given people a reason to think otherwise about him.

But with the injury to Wayne Simmonds, Sestito was placed into the lineup again. And as cliché as it is, it was a reason for him to prove himself.

Sestito's Two Goals Lead Flyers to Victory

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Perhaps in the most unexpected fashion, Tom Sestito's pair of goals led the Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers looked to erase the bad loss on January 27 by starting the top line right off the bat. They pressed hard, creating a few scoring chances including two by Tye McGinn on a deflection and a one-timer from the circle, but Lindback turned them both aside.

Garden Party: Flyers Take On Rangers At MSG

The Flyers travel to the Garden, but they're not showing up for tea. It will be another physical game between one of the Atlantic Division's premier rivalries.

Flyers Look to Warm Up in Florida

Riding off a huge 2-1 win over the Rangers, the Flyers want to keep rolling as they travel to Florida for the weekend. They start things off with the Panthers tonight at 7:30 PM.

5-on-3 PK Left Fans, Players In Awe

One of the many highlights from Thursday's thrilling 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers was a penalty kill in the third period.

No, you didn't read that wrong. The Flyers killing of a 5-on-3 power play that included a four-minute double minor for high sticking and a two-minute penalty for hooking turned out to be the ultimate seal of Philadelphia's first victory of the 2013 season.

Zac Rinaldo Injured In Flyers Loss

Flyers enforcer Zac Rinaldo was injured in the Flyers 5-2 loss to the Sabres Sunday afternoon.

Rinaldo collided with Sabres defenseman Robin Regehr in the first period. After the game it was revealed Rinaldo had a laceration on his leg that required 20 stitches.

Sestitio out 6-8 Weeks

There's often a debate among Flyers fans about whether or not Tom Sestito should be on the team.

It sounds like those fans can live in peace and harmony for the next 6-8 weeks.

The Flyers Twitter account tweeted that Sestito has a torn groin muscle and will have it repaired surgically.

Sestito fought Buffalo's Zach Kassian in Thursday's 7-2 win. Below is a video of the fight.
