How I See It: Canucks Trades & Upgrades

With the Canucks leading the Western Conference, and by having a descent idea on how teams are playing, I think it is time for me to make some predictions on what will happen near the trade deadline for the boys in blue and green starting from the net working our way out.

Goaltenders:

I see Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider both staying in Vancouver, especially the way both have been playing. Luongo looks rejuvenated and has the passion to play hard. Even watching his practices, you can tell he wants to win and make up for last year’s loss. His game has improved a whole lot better since the beginning of the season. Canucks fans can only hope that Luongo keeps paying stro...

Two Games in One

The biggest question at the beginning of this contest between the visiting Canucks and the hometown Habs was which Habs team would show up - the Jeckyls or the Hydes. After the shootout the answer was of course - both.

The first period started well for the hometown heroes when a wrist shot by a defenceman no less went through everyone including Roberto Luongo to make it 1-0 Habs. The shot was by Steady Freddy St. Denis with assists to Cammalleri and Plekanecs. They then got into a bit of a problem with penalties giving the Canucks a 5 on 3 for almost a minute. Big Hal Gill once again did yeoman job blocking the passing lane. With approximately a minute left in the first another goal...

Vancouver Canucks Quarter Mark Reviews: Sami Salo

The Vancouver Canucks’ hockey season is about a quarter of the way through and that means it is the perfect time to do player reviews. It has often been said that the twenty game mark is when General Managers and coaches begin looking at the roster for possible moves and improvements. For bloggers, like myself, it is no different. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working my way through the Canucks roster giving a review for each player. Next up is Sami Salo.

In a few years, when we all take a look back at this magical era, Sami Salo will stand out as a really underrated player for this hockey club. Since joining the Canucks, he has been the definition of stable play...

Vancouver Canucks Face-Off Against Blue Jackets: Make or Break Game?

While it would be silly to call Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets a must win, one has got to think that it does carry some weight for the Canucks as they move forward. It would be terrible to have gone on a nice little run of 4 straight wins only to lose to the worst team in the NHL. Imagine the psychological effects on the team. Looking at this game, it’s becoming pretty evident that this could be a turning point for the Vancouver Canucks. Let’s take a look at the different scenarios.

If the Canucks were to lose on Tuesday, it would reset everything back to ground zero. All of the good things that the team has done over the past 4 games would b...

Vancouver Canucks Quarter Mark Reviews: Chris Higgins

The Vancouver Canucks’ hockey season is about a quarter of the way through and that means it is the perfect time to do player reviews. It has often been said that the twenty game mark is when General Managers and coaches begin looking at the roster for possible moves and improvements. For bloggers, like myself, it is no different. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working my way through the Canucks roster giving a review for each player. Next up is Chris Higgins.

When you take a look at GM Mike Gillis’ boldest acquisitions as manager of the Canucks, names like Ballard, Booth and Sundin come to mind. Out of those three guys, Mats Sundin is the only one who reall...

Vancouver Canucks Quarter Mark Reviews: Alex Edler

The Vancouver Canucks’ hockey season is about a quarter of the way through and that means it is the perfect time to do player reviews. It has often been said that the twenty game mark is when General Managers and coaches begin looking at the roster for possible moves and improvements. For bloggers, like myself, it is no different. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working my way through the Canucks roster giving a review for each player. Next up is Alex Edler.

Earlier in the season it became incredibly apparent that Alex Edler, the offensive threat, was here to stay. With 16 points in 20 games, Edler has established himself as one of the top producing D-men in the ga...

Canuck Nation's Tough Questions Answered

With the season at its quarter mark, it’s time that fans, analysts and bloggers give their take on what is shaping up to be a very interesting season for the Vancouver Canucks. I posed a series of questions to great hockey minds in hopes that their answers would interest both Canuck Nation and the NHL world.

Kurtis Harms, an avid Vancouver Canucks fan, Marc Parsons, a Colorado Avalanche fan and great blogger, Tyler Ferris, a die-hard Detroit Red Wings supporter and Mike Luciano, a passionate, insightful writer for the New Jersey Devils, all agreed to answer some tough questions on the Vancouver Canucks. Without further ado, here are their answers.

Q) What is th...

Schneider's Time To Shine

With Roberto Luongo out of the line-up the last few games, fans have been seeing the future (or what they hope will be the future). Corey Schneider has been the man between the pipes since Bobby Lou went down on November 15th and has made a case for the number one spot in Vancouver’s net.

Corey Schneider has been the go-to guy for the Canucks, but these last two games have been huge for him. He split his two starts with a 5-1 loss to Chicago (Nov 16) and a 2-1 win against Ottawa (Nov 20), but despite the loss, he has looked great in net and has really transformed into a smart NHL caliber goalie (when to play the pu...

Vancouver Canucks Quarter Mark Reviews: Henrik Sedin

The Vancouver Canucks’ hockey season is about a quarter of the way through and that means it is the perfect time to do player reviews. It has often been said that the twenty game mark is when General Managers and coaches begin looking at the roster for possible moves and improvements. For bloggers, like myself, it is no different. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working my way through the Canucks roster giving a review for each player. Next up is Henrik Sedin.

I’ve got to give Henrik a lot of credit. He has been the better Sedin as of late and he really isn’t showing signs of slowing down. With 7 goals in 20 games to go along with 22 points and a +6 rat...

Vancouver Canucks Quarter Mark Reviews: Daniel Sedin

The Vancouver Canucks’ hockey season is about a quarter of the way through and that means it is the perfect time to do player reviews. It has often been said that the twenty game mark is when General Managers and coaches begin looking at the roster for possible moves and improvements. For bloggers, like myself, it is no different. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working my way through the Canucks roster giving a review for each player. We’ll begin with Daniel Sedin.

With 24 points in 20 games, Daniel Sedin shouldn’t have fans overly surprised that his name is atop the team’s scoring leader chart. For, over the past few seasons, the Sedin twins hav...
