Current Road Trip Key for Predators

On Monday night the Predators started their 5 game road trip against the Blackhawks. The Predators did lose in OT, but put up a spirited fight even while missing some key players. In the next 7 days the predators will play 4 games in their west coast swing, with 3 of those teams, being above the Predators in the standings currently, this road trip will be extremely important for the Preds going forward.

IN Nashville’s first 7 of 8 games this season, the Predators played extremely poorly, only managing to stay close thanks to Pekka Rinne. The team was being out shot, out played and generally out scored. After winning their first two games of the season the Predator...

Preds Losing Streak Shows serious Problems

Being a young team in NHL comes with its highs and lows, and the Predators have had a little of one and a lot of the other so far. After starting the season 2-0-0, with two wins against division rivals, the Predators have recently lost 4 in a row going 0-3-1 and giving up 16 goals in those loses.

The Predators decided this year to go through a youth movement while trying to match or better there great season last year. While all seemed good at the beginning, it has quickly turned sour for the Predators. While going on a 4 game losing streak at the beginning of the season is nothing new for the Preds who did it in 09-10, it is still something that you want to avoid, and ...

Preds defeat Jackets in Season Opener

Youth is going to be key this season for the Nashville Predators if they are going to have any sort of success.  Boasting the youngest listed roster in the NHL at 25.8, the Predators are in the midst of a youth movement, but they are still expected to compete this season.

They got off to a good start on opening night, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 in a hard fought game that came down to the wire. With goals from Halischuk, Suter and Smith, the Preds were able to overcome Columbus in the first time these two teams had ever played each other in a season opener.

While the Predators did start slow with constant pressure by the Jackets, they were able to get o...

Positive Spin on Weber Situation

Since the ruling of the arbitration hearing, many people have started dreading the future of Nashville Predators as it’s filled with many question marks and uncertainty regarding its three best players. While the situation is far from perfect, all I have read lately is mostly looking at the negative side, what happens than so instead I’m going to look at the positives and my take on the future.

Weber was awarded a hefty salary of $7.5 million this year making him one of the top paid defenseman in the league which goes along with his status of being one of the top players. With the price tag many assume that the Predators can’t afford it and therefore h...

Will 2011-2012 Predators Offense have more bite?

Last season while a good year for the Predators, really showed what the team lacked and needed going forward to really be a serious cup contender. Many say that the Predators are just one top six forward away from that goal, and many fans hoped this offseason Poile would go out and grab one for the team. Unfortunately he has not done that yet, but has said that if the opportunity arises he will pull the trigger, but until than the team has what it has.

Last year the team ranked 21st in the NHL in goals per game and 22nd in total goals for the regular season. In the playoffs they had sufficient scoring against the Ducks, a team lacking defence and a goalie at the time, bu...

Predators off season so far

As July 1st approached and all of Preds nation waited to see what their GM would do after their most successful season in history there was excitement in the air. Many thought that Poile would dive in to the pool of FA and sign some big players as the team made it clear offense is necessary. While 3 days later, Predators fans have been left confused and still waiting.

On July 1st Predator fans did what they always do, sit and watch as players that they thought their team could sign get grabbed by other teams. Fortunately this year some of the signings were ridiculous and I am glad that Poile stayed away from the frenzy. It wasn’t till the 3rd that Poile did someth...

NHLPA Files Grievance Against Nashville Predators

Earlier today the media had leaked that there may have been some problems with the Qualifying offers Poile had sent out to his RFAs. There was no word as to what the actually problem was, but when asked about it the Predators were not even aware that there was a problem. The Predators are in the middle of their annual development camp for prospects, and did not seem worried about the situation.

The NHL then issued a statement saying:

"We are not aware of any defects relating to Qualifying Offers tendered by the Nashville Predators to certain of the team's players as several media outlets are reporting.  Those players, having timely received Qua...
