This is what the #NHL wants to do with nets next year. Ugly green line and shallower. I don't understand why they don't just invest in sensors.

Considering what happened yesterday, most inappropriate headline title EVER. #NHL #TSNPunOfTheDay
That article is absolute crap. There's no way of knowing if there were any offer sheets for Stamkos because he would have to sign it first. Moreover, that piece of turn Simmons says he would have signed a one year deal. How would that help anyone? The Bolts would have no problem signing a one year deal at that price. There's much more that goes into offer sheets than just putting them out there. Simmons is a dinkus.
Prax - the one year deal might not sound like a big deal, but the reality of it is that as long as Stamkos would be an RFA he would have to be qualified @ that amount + the minimum increase per the CBA. The net effect would be the potential for a 4-5 year contract @$12M+ per year.
Or, alienating the people he works for and his teammates by doing something like that?
The way the one year deal works is that next season, being an RFA still, the minimum qualifying offer would have to be at the lowest the same as the previous year's contract and so Tampa would have to continue qualifying him at that amount until he becomes a UFA or they negotiate something else during the season. It's a stupid argument because if they did walk from this type of offer sheet, the team that signed him would be in the exact same situation.
As for GM's not doing there jobs, I disagree. If a GM went ahead and offer sheeted Stamkos, not only would it have been matched, but now that GM has put a target on his back. There could be retaliation on said GMs own players and even other GMs refusing to deal with them and ultimately like Prax said, alienating himself. Teams are bigger than one player, so I would say by not offer sheeting Stamkos and protecting their own teams, GMs did their jobs just fine.
Alexei Yashin apparently wants to return to the #NHL, and he apparently has an offer from the #Isles. #EpicFail
Reports: Yashin talking to Islanders about NHL returnI am waiting to see what Isles Newsday reporter, Katie Strang has to say about it in regards to confirming this possibility with three sources: Garth Snow, Alexei Yashin and his agent Mark Gandler (she was away on jury duty). I am not someone who approves of this deal. But I won't jump the gun on anything yet.
#Blues sign Jason Arnott to one year deal. Good veteran presence for a young group, think he'll be a good fit there. No money yet but if I had to guess I'd say $3ish million. #NHL
Blues ink forward Arnott to one-year dealExcuse me sir, would you like a Langenbrunner with your Arnott?
Hahaha! Seriously though, this should help provide some strong veteran leadership for the young Blues. Always liked Arnott as a player.
By far the best hockey song ever. #NHL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDKSpEfPOTo

Next year? I thought most of the stuff they tried out at RDO camp was for further on down the line.
The TSN article says this could be an "immediate" change: http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=374016
